Privacy Policy

Event Silencer ("the app") is an Android application that automatically silences your phone during Google Calendar events and when you are at specific saved locations. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and your rights regarding your information.

1. Data the App Accesses

Calendar Data

When you sign in with your Google account, the app requests read-only access to your Google Calendar. This is done through Google's official OAuth authentication system. The app reads the following calendar information:

• Event titles
• Event start and end times
• Whether an event is marked "busy" or "free"

Device Location

When you enable location-based silencing, the app accesses your device's precise location (GPS) to detect when you enter or leave a saved place. The app also accesses your location in the background so that this feature can work while the app is not actively open on screen.

Location data is processed entirely on your device using geofencing through Google Play Services. No location data is sent to the developer or any third party.

The app does NOT access:

• Calendar event descriptions, attendees, or locations
• Any other Google services (Gmail, Drive, Contacts, etc.)
• Your personal files, photos, messages, or contacts

2. How the Data Is Used

Calendar data is used to determine when to silence your phone based on your calendar and the keyword filters you configure.

Location data is used to determine when you are at a saved place and to silence your phone accordingly.

All processing happens locally on your device.

3. Data Storage

The app stores the following information locally on your device:

• Your Google account email address (to display who is signed in)
• Your configured keywords (the filter list you enter)
• Your chosen silence mode (Silent, Vibrate, or Do Not Disturb)
• Event start and end times, cached for up to 24 hours for offline reliability. No event titles, descriptions, attendees, or other event content are stored.
• Saved place names and coordinates (latitude and longitude) that you configure for location-based silencing

This information is stored using Android's standard private app storage and is not accessible to other apps. Cached event times are automatically deleted after 24 hours.

4. Data Sharing

The app does NOT share, sell, or transmit any of your data to third parties, servers, or external services. No analytics, advertising, or tracking services are used.

All communication is limited to:

• Google's authentication servers (for sign-in)
• Google Calendar API (to read your calendar)
• Google Play Services (for on-device geofencing)

These requests occur directly between your device and Google's servers. No data passes through any server controlled by the developer.

5. Permissions the App Requests

• Google Calendar (read-only): To detect busy events
• Precise location (GPS): To detect when you arrive at or leave a saved place
• Background location: To allow location-based silencing to work while the app is in the background
• Do Not Disturb access: To change your phone's ringer mode during events or at saved locations
• Notifications: To display the app's background status
• Battery optimization exemption (optional): To allow the app to run reliably in the background
• Boot Completed: To resume monitoring after the phone restarts

6. Revoking Access

You may revoke the app's access to your Google Calendar at any time by:

• Visiting myaccount.google.com/permissions
• Finding "Event Silencer" in the list and selecting "Remove Access"

You may revoke location access at any time through your device's app permission settings.

Uninstalling the app will also delete all locally stored settings, cached event times, saved locations, and account information from your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Event Silencer is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the policy will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
